FAQ
When should we arrive in Rhode Island?
There is so much to do in the Newport/Bristol area, so we hope you can make time to enjoy yourself (on top of attending the welcome party and wedding.) Definitely arrive by Friday afternoon to enjoy a dinner in downtown Newport before joining us at the unique setting of the Tennis Hall of Fame at 7 pm.
How do we get around?
It will be best to have your own car, or a rental car if arriving by plane, especially if you want to sightsee before the wedding festivities. Uber is also available in the area. Stay tuned for more information about shuttles to the wedding.
What should I wear?
The Friday night party is cocktail attire, so a mid to shorter-length cocktail dress. Men can wear suits or sportscoat/dress pants. For the wedding, we ask that you come dressed in your black-tie finest -- long dresses for women and tuxedos with a white dress shirt and black bowtie or tie for men. Thanks for helping make this a fun, elegant evening for all! Also, late September can bring cooler evenings, so we suggest a cover-up. And please note that the wedding ceremony and cocktails are on the lawn, so be wary of thin, spiky heels.
Can we take our own photos?
We ask that phones and cameras be silenced and put-away during the ceremony. You are welcome to take your own photos during the rest of the evening. Thanks!
What if it rains on Saturday?
There is a rain plan, but hopefully it won't be needed. In case of bad weather, the ceremony and cocktails will be held inside the lovely Blithewold mansion. The reception will remain in the large tent. Fingers crossed for beautiful September weather in New England!
Any restaurant suggestions?
If you are meeting us on Friday at 7:00 pm for cocktails and dessert, we suggest having an early dinner within walking distance of the Int'l Tennis Hall of Fame. Some top choices are Jo's American Bistro, Pasta Beach, 22 Bowen's, The Mooring, Giusto, Clarke Cook House and Midtown Oyster Bar. Reservations are highly recommended.
